Netzwerkfernweh
2015
Netzwerkfernweh is a mobile, offline interpretation of rorschmap.com, an ongoing reimagining of digital cartography.
Inspired by the kaleidoscope (literally: "observer of beautiful things"), Netzwerkfernweh renders historical and contemporary maps strange and beautiful, as true maps should be. Mobile devices inherently place us at the centre of the world; Netzwerkfernweh scrambles the world.
This offline work was developed for Aram Bartholl's Offline Art project, and installed as part of Hamster – Hipster – Handy at the Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt, April - July 2015. A second version was installed as part of a solo exhibition, Apophenia, at Galleri Image, Aarhus, October - December 2016.
