Dronestagram

2012

Dronestagram was a three-year project, posting images of the landscapes of drone strikes to social media, on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Dronestagram received extensive attention, gathering thousands of followers across each network in its first week. It was featured in English-language and foreign media including the Verge, New Statesman, Wired, Vice, the Guardian (online and in print), the Atlantic, the Daily Mail, Russia Today (RT) and many others.

Dronestagram was awarded an Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica 2013.

In 2014, Dronestagram won the Media Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival. As of March 2016, it has more than 25,000 followers on Instagram, and many more across other social media networks.

It has also been exhibited as an interactive installation.
