Radar Ornithology (Sage I-III)
2018
3 x Live radar data, tablet computer, plexiglass
The development of radar for military purposes in the 1940s also revealed a vast range of natural activity which had previously been unknown, such as the migration of birds at night. Today, radar is used extensively to track bird movements, revealing more and more that we do not know about the natural world. This installation uses live weather data from US meteorological facilities, showing clusters of bird movements at dawn and dusk.
